A Full-Time Free Clinic in El Prado, NM Serving All of Taos County

Since the COVID pandemic, when our local vets had to reduce spay/neuter appointments and people were staying home and not getting animals fixed, Taos County has been overwhelmed with litter after litter of excess births, many of which are now homeless strays. As the community leader in spay/neuter for cats, Taos Feral Feline Friends knows that spay/neuter activity must significantly increase in order to address the problem. However, spay/neuter vet appointments are often booked-up three months in advance, an inconvenient disincentive for many pet owners. And delays in getting appointments often lead to 'accidental' litters.... moms give birth when they're ready... not when it's convenient!

Yes, spay/neuter is the answer to over-population! But it won't succeed without a dependable supply of affordable spay/neuter appointments. That's why we started TFFF Spay/Neuter Services - to insure every cat and every dog in Taos County benefits from free spay/neuter. The spay/neuter clinic, located in El Prado, just north of the historic town of Taos, opened on May 2, 2024. It is the first, completely free, brick and mortar veterinary clinic in New Mexico to be founded and managed by volunteers! Spay Taos, a Taos animal welfare charity, operates the clinic today with the same commitment to animal welfare that Taos Feral Feline Friends exemplifies.

Everyone in the Taos community can participate:  residents of the town of Taos, county of Taos, Taos Pueblo and Picuris Pueblo... all are welcome! But it's not just spay/neuter... all vet-recommended vaccinations and a micro-chip (for pets only) are part of the program and included for free!

Do you feed feral cats? Don't let two or three become twenty or thirty! One of our main goals is to reduce the population of stray/feral cats by Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR). If you have feral cats, we encourage you to contact the clinic at 575-240-8549 for TNR program information.
