A Full-Time Free Clinic in El Prado, NM Serving All of Taos County
Since the COVID pandemic, when our local vets had to reduce spay/neuter appointments and people were staying home and not getting animals fixed, Taos County has been overwhelmed with litter after litter of excess births, many of which are now homeless strays. As the community leader in spay/neuter for cats, Taos Feral Feline Friends knows that spay/neuter activity must significantly increase in order to address the problem. However, spay/neuter vet appointments are often booked-up three months in advance, an inconvenient disincentive for many pet owners. And delays in getting appointments often lead to 'accidental' litters.... moms give birth when they're ready... not when it's convenient!
Yes, spay/neuter is the answer to over-population! But it won't succeed without a dependable supply of affordable spay/neuter appointments. That's why we started TFFF Spay/Neuter Sevices - to insure every cat and every dog in Taos County benefits from free spay/neuter. Our brick-and-mortar spay/neuter clinic, located in El Prado, just north of the historic town of Taos, opened on April 29, 2024. We have a capacity of twenty appointments per day, four days per week, Mondays thru Thursdays. Everyone can participate: residents of the town of Taos, county of Taos, Taos Pueblo and Picuris Pueblo... all are welcome! But it's not just spay/neuter... all vet-recommended vaccinations and a micro-chip (for pets only) are part of the program and included for free!
Do you feed feral cats? Don't let two or three become twenty or thirty! One of our main goals is to reduce the population of stray/feral cats by Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR). We have safe, harmless traps that you can borrow and we are glad to assist you with proven tips for successful trapping. Please call Leanne at 575-758-3519 to join our TNR program.
Do you volunteer with a local dog or cat rescue? We're all volunteers, too, so we appreciate your work! We'll make special arrangements with your team so that your animals receive the best possible spay/neuter experience. Please contact Donna 575-240-8549 for more information on how we can help your mission.
Solving the animal welfare crisis in Taos is our top priority! All donations through 12/31/2024 will be assigned to TFFF Spay/Neuter Services for the El Prado clinic - every dollar, every penny we receive. To accumulate and segregate spay/neuter donations, a new bank account has been established, separate from our general account. As always, full transparency is not just our goal... it's our guarantee!
